What is acupuncture?

Acupuncture is the insertion of fine needles into the body at specific acupuncture points. Specific acupuncture points are selected by the practitioner depending on the particular condition of the patient. There are more than 1000 known acupuncture points.

What can I expect?

Please allow an hour for your first visit to our practice.

In your first consultation, we’ll take you through a holistic diagnosis based on our Chinese Medicine framework.  We’ll chat about your goals and talk through any acupuncture questions you might have.

During your treatment, very fine acupuncture needles are gently inserted at specific points on your body. You can relax while the acupuncture takes effect.

After your first acupuncture session we take a look at your immediate outcomes. Through our framework of Chinese Medicine, we help you plan any future acupuncture treatments as needed.

Is acupuncture right for me?

Everyone’s different. All of our acupuncture appointments are individual and personalised on a 1-on-1 basis. We welcome any questions that you may have.

Are acupuncture needles painful?

While most of our patients at Brunswick Acupuncture report feeling relaxed during their acupuncture treatments, your experience may vary as everyone is different. The sensation commonly felt by the acupuncture needle is a warm, tingling or heavy feeling.

The needles used in acupuncture are super fine needles. They are much smaller than an injection needle and are similar to the size of a single strand of hair.

Our patient’s comfort is paramount to our acupuncture treatments, so we administer acupuncture needles with your feedback during the session. We’re able to ease off needles if they are uncomfortable, and can adjust the acupuncture treatment according to your requirements.
